Keep the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center

The Issue

For almost thirty years the Luray Chamber of Commerce has been promoting tourism in Page County, and for the last fifteen years doing an excellent job of staffing and operating the remarkable Visitor Center in the historic train station. For some unclear and unexplained reason in closed sessions, the County Board is considering removing the Chamber from those operations, and moving the Visitor Center to another much less desirable location, under the auspices of the ED&T agency. We, the business owners and residents of Page County do not agree with this plan. By taking these actions, we not only lose the efficient and professional operations the Chamber has been providing,  but we lose public visitor access to 2 beautful clean bathrooms,  access to the historic Train Museum,  the location for our fabulous Christmas Holiday Festival and the Farmers Market! No new proposed building can offer anywhere near the benefits currently reaped from the current location. Hiring and training all new staff to replace the professional and experienced Chamber staff makes no sense. We petition the Board of Supervisors to quash this plan,  and return operations of the Visitor Center to the Chamber and it's staff.
