Dear Willoughby squash players and supporters,

WSRC membership and the future of squash in Willoughby

Following the closure of the Willoughby squash courts, the Willoughby Squash and Racquets
Club Inc. (WSRC) has been established by members of the local squash community to help
secure the future of squash and racquet sports in the Willoughby area, providing continuity to
former Willoughby Squash Club members.

The purpose of WSRC is to demonstrate strong community support and to work with Willoughby
City Council and other stakeholders to progress options for both interim and longer-term
facilities.

To help achieve this, we are asking players, supporters, and friends of the club to register as
members of WSRC.

Membership
WSRC is using the Squash NSW RevSport platform for membership registration.
If you are already a Squash NSW member for FY26, you can update your membership for FY27
to WSRC via the link below:

https://www.revolutionise.com.au/willoughbysquashclub

Digital members will automatically be renewed for FY27 in the new club.
If you are not currently a registered member of Squash NSW, please register and as a WSRC
member. A digital Squash NSW membership is free. Registering with WSRC is an important way
of showing your support for the future of squash in Willoughby, particularly for gaining traction
with the Willoughby City Council.

It is intended that former Willoughby Pennant players will enter the Northern District Spring
Pennant, with home matches played at other centres. Leigh Sands is contacting team captains
to make arrangements.

For more information about the club and its activities, visit https://www.wsrc.org.au

Optional support through donations
In addition to membership, supporters are also invited to make a tax-deductible donation to
WSRC via the Australian Sports Foundation, prior to the end of the financial year.
Donations will help support funding the establishment of the club, including planning activities,
community engagement, and early-stage facility development work. Even small donations help.

Project update
WSRC is currently working with Willoughby City Council to explore options for a future squash
and racquet sports facility. This includes discussions around both interim and longer-term facility opportunities. One of the sites being explored is 52 Fullers Road, however final outcomes and approvals remain subject to Council processes and further planning work. At this stage, timelines and project outcomes are still being developed, and further updates will be shared with members as the project progresses. The club is being run by a volunteer committee drawn from the local squash community, and all
work is undertaken on a voluntary basis. The club’s website and social media channels from the previous organisation are being transitioned to WSRC and will be updated in due course.

Thank you for your continued support of squash in Willoughby. WSRC exists to represent the collective interest of the local squash community, and its progress will depend on strong engagement from players, supporters, and members. We look forward to keeping you informed as the project develops.

Best wishes,
The WSRC Committee
