Keep Schuette Park an Adventure Playground for Future Generations
Keep Schuette Park an Adventure Playground for Future Generations
The Issue

Henry Schuette Park has been a cherished part of our community for generations. Built with the help of community volunteers, it has become a destination playground where children climb towers, cross bridges, swing, explore, imagine, and create lifelong memories.
Many of today’s parents grew up playing at Henry Schuette Park and now bring their own children to enjoy the same unique experience.
The City’s proposed master plan replaces much of this one-of-a-kind adventure playground with a significantly smaller, more minimalist design while expanding other amenities. According to the City’s public survey, residents identified the playground as the park’s highest priority. We believe the final design should reflect that community input.
We are asking the City of Manitowoc to:
Preserve the adventure-style playground that has made Henry Schuette Park a community destination.
Modernize the playground while maintaining its interconnected design, climbing opportunities, swings, and imaginative play features.
Design a playground that is inclusive and accessible without sacrificing adventure.
Revisit the playground portion of the master plan and work with residents to create a design that reflects the priorities expressed in the public survey.
Henry Schuette Park is more than a playground. It is part of our community’s history and a place where generations of families have made memories.
We support investing in Henry Schuette Park. We simply want the investment to preserve what makes this park special instead of replacing it with a smaller, less adventurous playground for generations to come.
