Keep Salad and Go Open Across Texas

The Issue

On September 19, Salad and Go announced it was closing 41 of its restaurants across Texas and Oklahoma. Every location in Houston, San Antonio, and Austin has now been shuttered. Eighteen more stores in North Texas are gone as well. For hundreds of employees, that means sudden job losses. For families who relied on these restaurants for low-cost, healthy meals, it means another affordable option has disappeared.

The company says it will “focus on Dallas and Oklahoma,” leaving just 25 locations in North Texas. But abandoning three of the state’s largest metro areas — Houston, San Antonio, and Austin — is not just a corporate realignment. It is a decision that puts workers out of jobs, leaves entire communities behind, and tells loyal customers that their cities don’t matter.

Salad and Go has built its reputation on being affordable, accessible, and community-centered. It positioned itself as a healthier fast-food option, one that could reach families who are priced out of other choices. That promise is now being broken. Closing dozens of stores, without a clear plan to support workers or communities left behind, undermines the very values the company was built on.

We believe Salad and Go can do better. The company should pause these closures, sit down with employees, customers, and local officials, and explore alternatives. Could hours be reduced? Could some locations be relocated rather than eliminated? Could struggling stores partner with local organizations to stay viable? Pulling out entirely abandons too many Texans without trying to find solutions.

We are calling on Salad and Go CEO Mike Tattersfield and the leadership team to halt these closures and engage with the communities they are leaving. Protect the jobs. Protect the families. Protect the access to healthy food that Salad and Go once promised to expand.

Texans stood by this company, and now Texans are asking Salad and Go to stand by them.

Sign if you agree Salad and Go must stay open and keep serving communities across Texas.
