Thank you all for your support.
If you follow any of the Nashua FB support groups you can see all the hate we're getting. Must be they know they are fighting an uphill battle.
To date, the City of Nashua, has spent $12K on the Disc Golf Project at Roby Park. There is another $5K contract with Gove Environmental. The Rotary Club had promised $30K but the City has not received any monies so far. Tree cutting and construction had stopped back when we had filed the report with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
So far an approximate expenditure of $17,000 (not counting the labor pay to division of public workers who worked on the project) they have exactly one basket up, one basket of an 18 hole disc golf course cost $17,000. The budget is supposedly $30,000 paid by Rotary West if the city ever gets the check.
Nashua Conservation Commission is continuing to look into impaction to wetlands. I certainly hope that they hold up to their duties and that they strongly urge the city to scrap this project here and now.
The preliminary report from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services documented multiple areas where the construction impacted critical wetlands. That's a good thing from us in a bad thing for disc golf. The city never applied for a variance so I'm expecting them to be fine and I'm expecting remedies to be mandated.
Preliminary report from the State of NH proves that the construction thus far did impact critical wetlands. Now the Board of Public Works is continuing to fight our opposition. They claim they didn't know wetlands would be impacted. The City did not apply for a wetland variance and that is their mistake and now they have to pay to have any of the critical wetlands that was impacted. They will have to pay to remedy that which is why they have a contract with Gove Environmental to delineate the wetlands. And to help in any remediation. The City also failed to apply for and post the site plan for construction at Roby Park. We maintain the approval of this project was done illegally because they failed to follow city and state ordinances. If they had applied for a site plan and a wetland variance the land would have had to have been posted and our opposition could have started much sooner than it did. But that's okay we have their attention now.
The City of Nashua politicians need a serious overhaul. And that is on our agenda come next elections. The Mayor thinks that ignoring constituents that are opposing the disc golf project is wise is terribly wrong. The disc golfers are digging in their heels and we're digging just as hard. Fortunately, we have the law on our side. We will be consulting environmental attorneys.
Please keep on sharing and asking people to sign.
The wildlife is slowly starting to drift back since the tree cutting has stopped. Sadly, in addition to the impact that the construction made to the wetlands this drought is awful and they are so thirsty.
Thank you!!!
