Keep Ridgefield’s Current Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ordinance the way it is.
Keep Ridgefield’s Current Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ordinance the way it is.
The Issue
Keep Ridgefield’s Current Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ordinance the way it is.
We are 30-year Ridgefield homeowners who maintain nearly an acre of property with numerous mature maple trees. We do approximately 99% of our own lawn maintenance, and we strongly oppose a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers.
Mowing and blowing our property takes my husband and me more than an hour and a half. When we occasionally hire a landscaping crew, they can complete the job in about 20 minutes using gas-powered equipment, at a cost of more than $90 per visit.
For homeowners with larger properties, gas-powered blowers are simply more efficient. A ban would:
Increase the time required to maintain larger properties.
Reduce the number of properties landscapers can service each day.
Increase landscaping costs, which will ultimately be passed on to homeowners.
Require homeowners and landscapers to replace thousands of dollars of perfectly usable equipment.
Make storm and large-scale leaf cleanup slower and more expensive, particularly after the major storms Ridgefield regularly experiences.
Homeowners who have invested thousands of dollars in equipment to maintain their own property should have the ability to choose the tools that work best for them.
Please sign this petition to keep Ridgefield’s current ordinance and preserve the year-round use of gas-powered leaf blowers.
Let’s protect homeowner choice, keep landscaping costs reasonable, and allow residents to maintain their properties efficiently.
Please make sure you come out to vote IF this comes to a vote in Ridgefield.
