Keep Renewable Energy and Jobs Growing in 2011

The most important decision for the clean energy industry in the years to come is a decision that must be made very soon, whether or not to extend the Treasury Grant Program (TGP) in 2011 as part of the tax legislation compromise currently being hashed out in Congress.
The TGP (aka Section 1603 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) "allows the owner of commercial solar [or other renewable energy] property to receive a 30 percent grant, in lieu of taking the solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC)." Solar power (and jobs) more than doubled in 2010 and solar power is expected to more than double again in 2011 if the 1603 tax credit is extended, but it is expected to flat-line or even contract if not. The wind industry also risks losing "tens of thousands" of jobs if the program is not extended.
In total, approximately $5 million of investment have leveraged approximately $18 billion in investment since August 2009 (an amazing return on investment for the American public).
This grant program is a do or die program for clean energy in 2011, and is too important of an issue to sit on the fence about. Sign the petition below now to keep it going and to keep improving our economy while protecting the environment.
