The decision by the LNP Newman Government to recommence uranium mining in Queensland is happening without consultation with the Queensland people, and after repeatedly promising to keep the ban in place.

We do not believe the decision to recommence uranium mining in Queensland has been made with due and proper consideration to the safe transportation of radioactive matter, the potential threates to public health and workers' health and the environmental risks associated with the extraction of uranium for processing into yellowcake.

Further, the proposal to assemble a select three person panel to identify how the commencement of uranium mining will proceed does not instil public confidence in the decision making arounduranium extraction and processing in Queensland.

Your petitioners therefore call on Campbell Newman, the LNP Government and the Parliament to reinstate the ban on uranium mining in Queensland.
