Keep our school counselor employed

Keep our school counselor employed
The Issue
I am devastated to hear that our beloved school counselor will not be returning next year. She has been such an integral part of my school experience and has always gone above and beyond to support me in every possible way. She's not just a counselor but a guide, mentor, and confidant for so many of us students.
For years, she has been the backbone of our school community, tirelessly working to help students overcome their academic challenges, navigate personal issues, and plan for a bright future. Her ability to listen, empathize, and provide actionable advice is unparalleled. Having her around has made a significant difference in the lives of countless students, including mine.
In these times, the role of a school counselor is more critical than ever. Students face increasing pressures both academically and socially, and having a dedicated support system in place is crucial. Our counselor has been that support system, ensuring that every student feels heard and valued.
Statistics show that access to school counseling services is associated with positive student outcomes, including improved academic performance and better mental health. Eliminating her position would do a disservice to all students who rely on her guidance. Schools with strong counseling programs have less behavioral issues, higher graduation rates, and students who feel more prepared for life beyond school.
I urge the school board to reconsider and keep our school counselor employed for the coming years. Maintaining her employment is not just a benefit—it's a necessity for the betterment of our student body. By keeping her in our school, we are investing in a better future for all students.
She is a current alumni of MLHS and does so well everybody!! She needs to stay home. To be transparent to my understanding her company that she is contracted trough is closing and will no longer be a thing. However MLHS has an opportunity to higher her onboard as a regular student counselors she was under a Title 1 & Title 4 contract during her time here. She is also an alumni of MLHS class of 2013
Please sign this petition to show your support for retaining our school counselor. Let's work together to ensure that our school continues to be a place where every student has the support they need to thrive.
