Petition updateKeep our NHS out of US Trade dealsWe lost the vote, but the fight continues

Yesterday, we asked our politicians to act on their words. They like to tell us the “NHS is not for sale”, yet when it came to voting, 310 MPs voted against legislation that would safeguard our NHS from privatisation and a Trump trade deal.

The Queen’s speech amendment put forward by Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth MP, called to protect the NHS from future trade deals by repealing the Health and Social Care Act.

Without repealing this legislation, our NHS will automatically be included in US trade deals, as I explain here:

Labour, the SNP, Plaid, the Independent Group for Change, the Greens, and some Independents voted for the amendment

The Tories, DUP and other Independents voted AGAINST

The Liberal Democrats ABSTAINED

We lost 282 to 310

Really frustrating that we lost, but the vote was close. We need to keep fighting.

We need a million signers on this petition.

As our voice gets louder, they cannot continue to ignore us

Please, please share this petition with friends, colleagues and on social media using the hashtag #HandsOffOurNHS

You can contact your MP, urging them to support legislation to protect our NHS. Let them know you won't let them get away with failing to protect our NHS

If you want to post a picture of yourself on social media with the sign supporting the NHS, you can find it here:

Please keep sharing.

Thank you again for all your support, we couldn’t have got this far without you.
