This afternoon, parliament will be debating NHS involvement in a US trade deal. The government’s response to our campaign so far has been disappointing. Their empty slogans are meaningless and far from convincing. Therefore today’s debate in parliament is an important step.

With Boris Johnson soon to be crowned Prime Minister, and the prospect of a no-deal Brexit on the horizon, stakes couldn’t be higher. He has promised he will “fly out at the earliest opportunity” to seal a “trade deal with the US”. Watch this brilliant video by Stephen Fry, a supporter of our campaign :-), on what’s stake if our NHS is opened up to US corporations.

Please contact your MP to make sure they are at the debate. Ask them to commit their support for

guarantees by law that the NHS is a public service, that must be kept completely outside of any trade deal negotiations”

You can contact them here: https://www.writetothem.com/

For more information on how to decode the ‘reassuring slogans’ we will undoubtedly hear during the debate, read this excellent analysis by Professor Koivusalo on Opendemocracy.org

Trade negotiations and the triple trouble for health and the NHS

We need guarantees by law that the NHS remains as a public service, not a bargaining chip in negotiations.

Please share this petition - to increase the pressure on our politicians in the lead up to the debate (due to start today at 16:30)!

Massive thanks for all your support,
