Keep our cenotaph in its original location
The Issue
The Cenotaph has been a landmark in our community since 1928. It stands as a solemn place to honour the valiant women and men from our city who gave the ultimate sacrifice. To move it from its original location would be a profound dishonor to their memory, as well as to the families and descendants who have paid respects there for generations.
Our Cenotaph is not just a historical monument; it is a symbol of our collective memory and respect. Its current location is steeped in history and tradition, serving as a beacon of remembrance within the heart of our city. Relocating it would strip away the context and significance it has carried for nearly a century.
Instead of relocating the Cenotaph, we should allocate resources towards its preservation and restoration at its current site. This would honour the original intent of the monument and uphold its status as a historic symbol of sacrifice and courage.
Please join us in sending a message to the authorities: preserve our heritage, respect our Veterans, and keep our Cenotaph in its rightful place. Sign this petition to ensure that our Cenotaph remains a treasured landmark for future generations. Why do They want to move Our Cenotaph quote from Brampton Guardian According to the city, the Brampton cenotaph, which honours the city’s fallen soldiers, will be moved across the street to neighbouring Gage Park.
Ken Whillans Square will undergo a $15-million transformation this summer that will include a permanent stage for events and performances, as well as a large digital screen aimed at turning the square into a more event-friendly space. Thank You to All of You that have signed My petition. I'm still needing support by You signing. It's easy to sign no matter where You live. It doesn't cost to sign. Why is NOT moving the Cenotaph important to me.....When My Family moved to Brampton in 1961 My Grandfather Who Fought in WW1 & WW11 the Cenotaph became very important to Us. It wasn't just a Cenotaph it was Ours to Honour Those who Fought for You & Me. My Grandfather was also a Proud Member of Our local Legion
