Keep our beloved smoke shop open in Glendale, AZ

Keep our beloved smoke shop open in Glendale, AZ
The Issue
Holy Smokes! This can't be happening to Holy Smokes smoke shop at Greenway & 67th ave.
When I first moved to this neighborhood in Glendale, Arizona, I walked into a small business smoke shop and was immediately greeted with a warm "Hi and welcome!" It was more than just a store – it felt like a community hub. Since then, I've become a regular, not just because of their incredible selection and competitive prices, but because of the genuine care and welcome I receive every time I visit. The owners are the nicest people and this place has become my go-to recommendation for coworkers and friends, many of whom go out of their way to shop here.
However, our cherished smoke shop is at risk of closing due to recently enacted zoning changes in Glendale, AZ. These changes threaten the livelihood of a small business that has served the community with dedication and joy. This isn’t just about a store; it's about preserving a community space where people feel at home and valued.
The economic landscape is tough for small businesses, and zoning laws should support rather than hinder their survival. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses make up 99.9% of all businesses in the United States, and they create 1.5 million jobs annually. Such businesses are the backbone of our communities, offering personalized services and fostering connections that large corporations simply can't match.
I urge Glendale city officials to reconsider these zoning changes that threaten our local businesses. A more flexible approach could allow existing businesses to continue operating under a grandfather clause, providing them with the opportunity to adapt over time rather than face abrupt closure.
By supporting this small smoke shop, we are not only advocating for the survival of a beloved business but also standing up for the principles of community, resilience, and economic diversity. Let's show Glendale city officials that there is strong public backing for this business. We need to protect the places that make Glendale feel like home.
Please join me in signing this petition to urge the Glendale City Council to reconsider these zoning amendments and keep our beloved smoke shop open. Every signature counts and brings us one step closer to achieving our goal.
