The closure of Lankenau Environmental Science High School’s location will prohibit Philadelphia’s students from direct access to environmental opportunities. These opportunities are only possible with our unique campus location and partnerships with the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, the Organic Gardens at Manatawna Farms, Manatawna Farm, and True Love Seeds.
Thus, I stand in opposition to the recommendation for closure of the Lankenau site. Lankenau Environmental Science High School is the only learning environment that: 

• is geographically connected to the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, creating an extended practical classroom and landlab 
• supports a three-year CTE completer program in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources that is dependent on its green campus
• facilitates local community internships only achievable through place-based, onsite learning opportunities connected to the wilderness, gardens, and farm
