Far-right politics does not yet have a foothold in Lutruwita / Tasmania.

That gives us something rare and precious: the chance to stop division before it takes root.

Tasmania can be the state that says no to One Nation — no to scapegoating, no to fear, no to attacks on minorities, no to environmental destruction, and no to the politics of resentment.

Our island is not perfect. Too many people are struggling. Too many politicians have failed to act with courage, compassion or vision. But the answer to those failures is not to lower our standards. It is to raise them.

One Nation does not offer real solutions. It offers blame. It divides communities against each other. It undermines trust in democracy, even democracy itself. It attacks climate action, environmental protection and the rights of people who are already too often targeted and marginalised.

That is why One Nation must be treated differently from other political parties.

This is not about left or right. It is about protecting the basic values that hold our island together: fairness, respect, decency, care for Country, and the belief that every person belongs.

Lutruwita / Tasmania can remain the only state in Australia that has never elected One Nation to a state or federal parliament.

Let’s keep it that way.
