If you are a fisherman like me and love to fish in Newport on the south jetty you may have found out you have to leave at dusk now.  My favorite time to fish that is when the sun goes down, it’s actually the best time and how I stock my cooler with rockfish.  
You may also enjoy watching sunsets, walking your dog, going for a night jog or going on a beach walk.  
Well now Oregon State Park Rangers are forcing everyone off at dusk and then locking the gate.  You cannot even park at the gate and walk in anymore.  
This all started with Covid when they closed it completely, yet you could still walk in at the gate.   
The city of Newport and Oregon State Parks are trying to keep you at home.  Soon maybe they will close the jetty down permanently again.
