The Issue

Ms. York has been more than just a teacher to us at Irrigon High School, she has been a beacon of support and a source of motivation for countless students throughout her tenure. Her ability to create a safe, respectful environment has made a profound impact, helping students navigate both academic hurdles and personal challenges.

The current decision by the Morrow County School District to transfer her to Riverside High School and replace her with teachers who lack the necessary qualifications in Language Arts threatens to undermine not only the quality of education but also the emotional support that our school's students have come to rely on. Language Arts is a crucial component of our educational journey, and the success of our students greatly depends on having a skilled and dedicated educator like Ms. York.

We must keep Ms. York at Irrigon High School. Her deep connections with students, parents, and staff alike demonstrate her integral role in the community. Losing her presence would not only disrupt the learning process but also take away the much-needed mentorship that she provides. Her unique ability to reach students on both an academic and personal level cannot be easily replaced, nor should it be.

To ensure continued high standards of education and maintain a nurturing school environment, we urge the district to reconsider their decision and allow Ms. York to continue her sterling work at Irrigon High School. Let's send a powerful message to the district that our students' well-being and educational success are priorities that should not be compromised.

Join us in advocating to keep Ms. York where she truly makes a difference. Sign this petition to help us preserve the excellence and warmth that Ms. York brings to our school every day.
