Keep Kutti Beach dog-friendly!

Keep Kutti Beach dog-friendly!
The issue
Kutti Beach in Vaucluse is a favorite spot for my dog and I over the summer, as it is for many dog owners in Sydney. It's one of only two dog-friendly beaches in Sydney’s east, where dogs are allowed to run, play, and swim in the sea. Recently, Woollahra Council has changed the regulations, prohibiting our dogs from enjoying this beach. This decision affects all dog-loving residents in the area, including myself, who have cherished the moments spent with our pets by the sea.
This is not just about my dog and me; it’s about maintaining the small, precious spaces we have for our dogs in a city dominated by over 100 beaches catering to swimmers without pets. Sydney’s eastern beaches are renowned, yet dog owners have very limited options. Kutti Beach is ideal – it’s secluded, intimate, and perfect for a relaxing day with our loyal companions.
The mental and physical benefits for both pets and owners when dogs are allowed to roam off-leash at the beach are undeniable. Studies have shown that off-leash time not only boosts a dog's happiness but also contributes to their physical health through exercise, which in turn encourages healthy lifestyles for owners. Restricting access to beaches deprives us and our canine friends of these benefits.
The council’s decision does not reflect the interests of its residents who cherish these rare places where dogs can be free. I urge Woollahra Council to reconsider their stance and make Kutti Beach a designated off-leash area once again. Let's preserve its status as a haven for dog lovers and their best friends.
Support this petition. Help us bring joy back to our pets' everyday lives and reinstate them as part of Kutti Beach’s community.
Please sign this petition to let Woollahra Council know how much we value our dogs' happiness and well-being. For many of us, our dogs are family, and just as we enjoy our days outdoors, so should they.
