Keep Kendall Plaza Fitness Open for Our Community
The Issue
Kendall Plaza Fitness Center has announced that it will officially close its doors on September 30, 2026, following the recent sale of Kendall Plaza.
For the past two and a half years, Kendall Plaza Fitness Center has grown into a community of more than 400 members. This is more than just a place where we come to work out. It has become a place where people in our San Bernardino community have built friendships, established healthy routines, attended group fitness classes, worked with trainers, and found a welcoming environment to improve their physical and mental well-being.
Members were recently informed that although the gym had initially been expected to continue operating following the sale of the plaza, unforeseen circumstances have now resulted in its closure. Group classes have already ended as of September 16, and the entire fitness center is scheduled to close September 30.
With more than 400 members actively supporting this gym, we believe our community deserves the opportunity to have its voice heard before Kendall Plaza Fitness Center disappears.
We are asking the new ownership and the appropriate decision-makers for Kendall Plaza to please reconsider the closure and explore every reasonable option that could allow a fitness center to remain at this location.
Whether that means allowing Kendall Plaza Fitness Center to continue operating, working with the current gym operators on a solution, or finding another way to preserve the fitness facility, we are asking that alternatives be considered before the space is permanently closed.
There is already an established community here. There are hundreds of people who want to continue showing up, supporting this gym, taking classes, training, and being part of what has been built over the last two and a half years.
