Keep Iowa Pro-Life.

Keep Iowa Pro-Life.
The Issue
Des Moines city councilman Josh Mandelbaum has drafted an abortion resolution and is lobbying to gain the support of his fellow council members in hopes of passing it. This abortion resolution would make Des Moines Iowa the abortion destination of the MidWest. Mandelbaum's resolution seeks to codify abortion on demand, force taxpayers to pay for travel reimbursements for women seeking abortions and prohibit the use of government resources to investigate abortion crimes. The people of Iowa have already spoken. We have consistently voted for Pro-Life candidates in the Iowa House and Senate and elected a Pro-Life Governor. The Iowa Legislature has done exactly what we hired them to do and passed Pro-Life laws. Iowa currently has a 20 week abortion ban, the waiting period before having an abortion is back in place since the Supreme Court of Iowa reversed their wrong decision and has recently ruled that the right to abortion does not exist in the Iowa Constitution. We are very close to reinstating Iowa's heartbeat law which will make Iowa virtually abortion free. If Mandelbaum's resolution passes it could take years to fight it in court and in that time thousands of Iowa babies and babies from surrounding states will continue to be slaughtered in the capitol city, Des Moines. Please sign our petition and then contact the city council members and the mayor directly to let them know Iowa is Pro-Life and you don't want the Des Moines city council 7 trying to circumvent the will of the people of Iowa. Similar "grace act" resolutions have been passed by city councils across the country: Atlanta, GA June 21, 2022. Denton, TX June 28, 2022. Nashville, TN July 5, 2022. New Orleans, LA July 7, 2022. Memphis, TN July 12, 2022. Pittsburgh, PA July 19, 2022. Austin, TX July 21, 2022. Spokane, WA July 25, 2022. Columbus, OH July 27, 2022. San Antonio, TX August 2, 2022. Dallas, TX put the "grace act" resolution on their agenda for August 10 and many Pro-Life citizens signed up to speak at that meeting. The city council removed it from the August 10 agenda and called those who signed up to speak to advise them it had been removed from the agenda. Then they brought it up for a vote at a council meeting anyway and passed it with no one there to speak in opposition August 2, 2022. Once Mandelbaum has enough support to pass his resolution it can be brought up at any council meeting and they can call for a vote and pass it. Please sign the petition, share it and take action by emailing the council members and mayor directly.
