Keep Guns Out of the Texas State Fair — Protect Families, Not Politics

The Issue

In 2023, a gunman opened fire at the State Fair of Texas, injuring three people and sending families running for cover. In response, the fair did what any responsible organizer would do — it banned guns from the fairgrounds, just like other large public events across Texas.

That simple change saved lives. It brought peace of mind to parents, kids, and thousands of Texans who just want to enjoy the fair safely.

But now, that safety is under attack.

Attorney General Ken Paxton tried to sue the fair and the City of Dallas to force guns back into the event — claiming it violated state law. A judge just threw out that lawsuit. But this fight isn’t over. Politicians are still pushing bills to strip local safety policies and override the fair’s right to protect its guests.

This petition is a call to every Texas leader: defend the fair’s right to keep guns out. Protect the community, not special interests. Public safety should never be a political bargaining chip.

Sign to stand with the families who attend the fair, the organizers who acted after tragedy, and every Texan who believes in commonsense safety. We can’t afford to go backward.
