Petition updateKeep Gulf Harbour Country Club's Open Space ZoningKeep Whangaparāoa’s Green Spaces (KWGS) to host YouTube Livestream on Sunday 26 May at 7:30PM

Keep Whangaparāoa’s Green Spaces (KWGS) along with the Gulf Harbour and the wider Whangaparāoa community, is devastated by the major fires which occurred at the Gulf Harbour Country Club (GHCC) recently. We believe these fires have resulted in the total loss of the main clubhouse and associated buildings.

Although emotions are running high in the Gulf Harbour and the wider Whangaparāoa community, the destructive fires do not change anything as far as KWGS is concerned. KWGS believes that the golf course is a viable business with a vital role, along with the Gulf Harbour Marina, in anchoring Gulf Harbour as per the original master-planned community. KWGS have always maintained a new golf course owner would most likely demolish the existing clubhouse building - which needed extensive remedial work - and construct a more appropriate fit-for-purpose clubhouse.

Therefore, in order to bring everyone up-to-date and share information we are holding a YouTube Livestream on Sunday 26 May, at 7:30PM.

On the Livestream, members of the KWGS Executive will cover the following:

1.     That the clubhouse fires do not change our perspective on GHCC. We believe the golf course must be retained, restored and can be viable;

2.     How KWGS is working with both Auckland Council and Central Government to ensure the masterplan for Gulf Harbour is retained with the 999 Green Space Encumbrance acknowledged and in kept in place;

3.     What the recent liquidation application against Long River achieved. What happens with those other creditors who have had claims upheld by the Small Claims Tribunal but have not been paid by GHCC.

4.     Your questions on other matters.

The Livestream will last about forty minutes. KWGS welcomes your questions ahead of the event. Email: comms@kwgnz.org before 0900 Sunday 26 May. You will be able to post comments and questions during the Livestream as well. We will do our best to answer them. The Livestream is a new venture for us. Apologies in advance if technical gremlins emerge! The Livestream will be recorded then uploaded to the KWGS YouTube channel for later viewing.

View the Livestream from our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@KeepGreenSpaces

For your information, a full formal public meeting will take place in the near future. Details will be widely circulated once the arrangements have been confirmed.
