The F block at the Hunter School of Performing Arts (HSPA) is an area that holds many of our classes and activities, and it's disappointing to find the girls' toilets frequently closed. As a student who attends classes in this block regularly, I'm continually faced with the inconvenience of walking to a different building just to access basic facilities. This not only disrupts my learning and schedule but also poses challenges for students who are managing health conditions or who may need immediate access to these facilities.

The constant closure of these toilets is an issue for numerous students beyond just inconvenience. According to the World Health Organization, access to sanitation facilities is a fundamental human right, and any barriers to this can affect a student's well-being and academic performance. 

In a school that options artistic expression and values each student’s needs, it is crucial to ensure that practical necessities are consistently accessible. One possible solution is to conduct a review of the closure policy by engaging with students to understand their needs and consult with maintenance staff to establish a feasible schedule that keeps these facilities open.

We ask that the school administration takes immediate action to ensure the F block girls' toilets remain open throughout school hours. By maintaining accessible facilities, HSPA will be supporting a more inclusive and supportive environment that allows all students to focus on their educational and artistic pursuits without unnecessary disruption.
