Keep Evergreen Forest Nursery Open

Keep Evergreen Forest Nursery Open
The Issue
Evergreen Forest Nursery is a unique setting in the Ribble Valley which allows preschool children to learn through engagement with nature outdoors - growing, foraging and cooking their own food, caring for the animals and birds on the site and making use of their eggs and wool, learning through outdoor play and enjoying the gentle rhythms of the seasons on a 22 acre site.
The owners Monika and Michael work tirelessly to create an incredible learning environment in acres of natural woodland which is all managed without the use of pesticides and with the utmost respect and protection for the wildlife living within.
Due to their long working hours which involve caring around the clock for the animals and beehives, carrying out risks assessments on the land, gathering and chopping wood for the outdoors fire, Monika and Michael live in a purpose-made flat at the site that was already in existence when they purchased the land.
Their neighbours have complained to Ribble Valley Borough Council that Monika and Michael stay overnight on the site, (despite it being hard to see what impact this would have upon the neighbours), and as such Monika and Michael have been threatened with the loss of their only home and livelihood, putting this amazing nursery at risk of closure.
Monika and Michael do not want to carry out any extra building work that would require planning permission - they simply would like to stay overnight on their own land in an already existing building which is well suited to living accommodation, and requires no changes or adaptations. They work in excess of 12 hours a day on the land and have suffered numerous attempted thefts since moving in. Staying overnight on the land reduces the likelihood of theft and allows them carry out their work and to care for the animals when they are ill.
They would not be able to do this living off site.
Please show your support for them, because it is the children (and future intakes of children) who will suffer, if their amazing nursery is taken away from them.
