Hey there, Eugene! We need to talk about something important.

We're your neighbors, friends, and fellow Eugene residents, and we're worried about a new type of technology that's been making headlines lately: Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS), aka: Killer Robots. We're asking you to take a stand against the potential future use of these weapons in our community.

Why Should We Care?
Look, we know it sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but Killer Robots are becoming a real thing. These are weapons that can choose, attack, and kill targets on their own, and not always with a human making the final call. 

Here's why that's not okay: 

1. It's a moral mess. Do we really want artificial intelligent machines deciding who lives or who dies?

2. Who's responsible if something goes wrong? It's not clear, and that's actually kind of scary.

3. These weapons could be very dangerous in the wrong hands. Just think about it.

4. They might make conflicts or war more common because there's significantly less risk to the people using them, which could pose a greater threat to civilians.

5. Like any tech, they could potentially be hacked or malfunction. The consequences would likely be disastrous.

What We're Asking For:
We're calling on you and our Eugene City Council and Mayor, to;

Make it official: Pass a city law that says "no way" to developing, making, or allowing any of these weapons systems in Eugene.

Speak up: Let everyone know that Eugene doesn't support Killer Robots / LAWS and that we support efforts to ban them worldwide.

Join the movement: There are cities all over the world saying no to Killer Robots / LAWS. Let's be one of them!

Eugene has always been a place that cares about doing the right thing. We can set an example for other cities by taking a stand on this issue. It's about making sure AI is developed responsibly and protecting what matters most – our community and our values.
