Keep Duncanville Beautiful - Youth interest to Save The Charles F. Ladd Land

The Issue

In suburban Texas, the opportunity rarely appears to preserve undeveloped land. In Duncanville though, off of 609 W Danieldale Road, we have an opportunity to save some of the untouched wilderness. Serene, diverse, and beautiful land sits on this lot, with a gorgeous creek running through her. Although it remains untouched by man; it provides home to many wild Texas species, from Blue Heron birds to beavers.

This land is under threat of losing itself to concrete developments. Although expansions are always lovely to have in cities, to tear away this land would be almost criminal in morality. In Duncanville specifically there are many already developed areas that are in need of love and new/restructured buildings, much like the old Redbird mall. To disturb such natural beauty only to have it succumb to another concrete lot would have many more negative effects than positive ones.

First off, the natural habitat of many Texas animals would be disturbed. They would all have to relocate; into our city, neighborhoods, and roads. Second, more trash would run-off into the nearby creek. This would cause a trail of pollution to flow through our city's most glorious natural water source. Also, it would cut back on the amount of available greenery in Duncanville which is an overall blow to our ecosystem as a whole. Cutting back on a large amount of open and green space would be only contributing to the rising level of carbon in our atmosphere.

We, as the people of the area, need to band together to state our goal to preserve the land as a whole. We need to be the voices for the flora and fauna who lack one. There is a rare chance now for us to build a greener DFW, and to truly let the people of the community enjoy the full potential of this location. Specifically us as the youth of the area; we have a cause to speak out for. We need to ensure that the generations, who cease to even exist yet, get a chance to learn about our world's natural beauty. We need to keep our Texas clean and green.
