Keep Dating Features Out of Roblox

The Issue

Roblox is supposed to be a place for creativity, fun, and community—especially for kids and teens. That’s why it’s so disturbing to hear that the CEO of Roblox is floating the idea of adding dating features to the platform. Even if they claim it's “just for adults,” Roblox has a long history of being used primarily by children, with nearly 40% of its users under the age of 13.

Introducing dating—even in a so-called “21+ zone”—sends the wrong message about what this platform is meant to be. Parents trust Roblox as a place where their kids can play games, build worlds, and interact with friends in a relatively safe space. Adding dating into the mix changes that entire dynamic—and not for the better.

No amount of ID checks or “virtual walls” can fully guarantee that kids won’t be exposed to things they shouldn’t be. And let’s be honest: Roblox’s moderation has already struggled to keep up with inappropriate content. It’s hard to believe this move won’t make that problem even worse.

This isn't about blocking people from finding love—there are plenty of apps for that. It’s about protecting a space that’s been used and loved by millions of young people around the world. Let’s not turn a children’s gaming platform into something it was never meant to be.

We’re asking Roblox to do the right thing: drop any plans to introduce dating features on its platform, in any form. Focus on keeping Roblox a safe, creative, and playful space—not a virtual dating app.

Please join us in telling Roblox that this idea isn’t just unpopular—it’s unacceptable.
