We, the undersigned parents, students, families, and members of the Dixon community, respectfully ask Onslow County Schools to reconsider the staffing decision that would result in Coach Danielle Durivage no longer serving as a PE teacher at Dixon Middle School.

We understand that school districts sometimes face difficult financial and staffing decisions. We also believe those decisions should consider the impact an educator has on students, school culture, extracurricular programs, and the overall well-being of the children they serve.

Coach Danielle has become a trusted and deeply valued member of the Dixon Middle School community.

She is more than a PE teacher.

She is a coach, mentor, role model, and trusted adult for students who know that when they walk into her class or practice, they have someone in their corner.

For some students, that relationship has had a profound effect on how safe, supported, and comfortable they feel attending school.

Coach Danielle has built meaningful relationships with her students and athletes, and removing her would affect not only her PE students, but also the young women she coaches and the programs she helps lead.

Our request is simple:

We respectfully ask Onslow County Schools to reconsider this staffing decision and explore every reasonable alternative that would allow Coach Danielle Durivage to remain a PE teacher and coach at Dixon Middle School.

Budgets matter.

Staffing numbers matter.

But the people who make our children feel safe, supported, confident, and excited to come to school matter too.

Please keep Coach D at Dixon Middle School.
