Keep Christmas in December: Celebrate Thanksgiving in November

Keep Christmas in December: Celebrate Thanksgiving in November
The Issue
Christmas is often celebrated way too early, overshadowing the importance and warmth of Thanksgiving. Each year, it feels as if the bright lights and decorations of Christmas are encroaching earlier and earlier, often pushing aside the traditions and gratitude before Thanksgiving even gets its chance to shine.
Thanksgiving, a longstanding tradition in the United States, is a time for families and friends to come together, express gratitude, and appreciate the blessings of the past year. It's a holiday that embodies the spirit of community and reflection, offering a pause before the bustling festivities of Christmas.
However, with retailers and media pushing Christmas from as early as October, Thanksgiving often feels neglected and underappreciated. Stores are filled with Christmas songs, decorations, and promotions long before the Thanksgiving turkey is on the table. Some years, I also see Christmas being celebrated far too early, with some people pushing it as far as skipping Halloween, but that is not as common. This premature rush not only diminishes the significance of Thanksgiving but also stresses consumers, pressuring them into holiday shopping before they're ready.
I propose a delay in the official start of Christmas promotions and decorations until after Thanksgiving. By doing this, we can give each holiday its due respect and importance and create a more enjoyable and less rushed holiday season for everyone. Retailers, businesses, and media organizations can join us in recognizing the value of Thanksgiving by holding off Christmas displays, sales, and marketing until late November.
Join me in preserving the essence of Thanksgiving by signing this petition and urging businesses to respect the November timeline. Together, let's ensure that gratitude isn't forgotten amidst the tinsel and wrapping paper of Christmas. Sign this petition to make a change!
