Keep Boston University's CGS Cohesive and Professor-Taught.
The Issue
On its webpage, The Top Ten Reasons Why CGS May Be Right for You, Boston University proudly declares that CGS contains "no TAs, part-time assistants, or graders". Despite this statement, BU administrators are no longer making an effort to keep the CGS experience entirely professor-taught—they have started selecting one professor per team to be replaced by a teaching fellow during the summer semester abroad. Many CGS faculty are worried that the university plans to replace even more professors with TFs, ultimately creating a summer environment where the majority of material is being taught by non-professors. CGS professors intend their material to be cohesive across the two terms, with the first half of the course being taught in Boston and the second half in London, and Boston University is gutting the value of the school by disrupting the cohesive nature of the program. Sign this petition to demand that Boston University keeps the College of General Studies cohesive and professor-taught, as it is designed to be.
