Millions of thyroid patients depend on Armour Thyroid because it’s the only medication that truly helps them feel like themselves again. I am one of those patients.

I’ve tried synthetic alternatives, and they left me struggling with symptoms that made daily life difficult — fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, and a constant feeling that something was “off.” Armour Thyroid gave me my quality of life back. Losing access to it would mean losing the stability I’ve worked so hard to regain.

Armour Thyroid has been prescribed for more than 100 years, making it one of the oldest and most established treatments for hypothyroidism. Doctors have relied on it since the early 1900s, long before synthetic thyroid medications existed. Its long history shows that this medication is trusted, time‑tested, and effective for many patients whose bodies do not respond well to synthetic T4‑only options.

But even today, not all doctors are willing to prescribe Armour Thyroid. Many patients already struggle to find a provider who understands or supports natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) medications. Access is already limited — and restricting or removing Armour Thyroid would make an already difficult situation even worse. Patients who rely on it would be left with no viable alternatives.

An estimated 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease, and many rely on NDT medications when synthetic options fail them. Restricting these medications puts patients at risk and forces them into treatments that may not work for their bodies.

I’m calling on the FDA, elected officials, and healthcare leaders to protect patient choice and ensure continued access to Armour Thyroid. Patients deserve options. We deserve to feel well. We deserve to have a say in our own treatment.
