The Issue

For more than 20 years, All Stars Mandarin Center (ASMC) has been an important part of the San Francisco Unified School District community. Thousands of students and families have benefited from its after-school programs, language instruction, cultural enrichment, and caring staff. Today, ASMC serves students at five SFUSD school sites and supports more than 500 families.

Recently, SFUSD decided that ASMC will no longer be permitted to operate on SFUSD campuses beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This decision stems from an incident that occurred at one school site and concerns about the reporting process that followed.

As parents, we understand the importance of student safety and proper procedures. However, we believe it is unfair for one incident to result in the loss of a program that has positively impacted families across multiple schools for more than two decades.

ASMC has been much more than an after-school program. It has been a community. Students have learned Mandarin through engaging activities, cultural celebrations, and meaningful relationships with dedicated teachers and staff. Parents have trusted ASMC to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where children can learn, grow, and connect with their heritage and community.

We urge Dr. Maria Su and SFUSD leadership to listen to the voices of parents, students, and community members who have experienced firsthand the positive impact ASMC has had on our schools.

Please sign this petition to support the return of All Stars Mandarin Center programs to SFUSD campuses and to preserve a community resource that has served our families for more than 20 years.
