Outcome of the Full Council Meeting 8th September 2026

 The petition was formally presented and then debated at the Full Council meeting, last night. 

The motion was passed unanimously to work with the Post Office to urgently find a suitable replacement Post Office in Tamworth Town Centre.

Continue working with the Post Office as a matter of urgency: 

• Identify suitable, available, and accessible premises in Tamworth Town Centre.
• Restore access to Post Office services for the whole community, people who work, live in and visit the town.
• Councillors debated and noted the points I raised about older people, those with mobility issues, and people with digital limitations, along with the needs of all community members.

*I stated in my presentation that the initial suggested alternatives currently in place , Masefield Drive, Ventura and Bolehall Post Office, are not reasonable options for many who work, trade, live in or visit the town, and that relying on digital services is also not reasonable for many. 

I also said and which was noted by councillors that trained and experienced postal workers, who were made redundant when the branch closed, suggested they may be willing to apply for roles if a new Post Office were established.
