Keep 7th and 8th grade students at Seadrift School

Keep 7th and 8th grade students at Seadrift School
The Issue

Seadrift School has been a cornerstone in our community, shaping the lives of countless students. I am a parent at Seadrift and have witnessed first-hand how it offers a safe, supportive, and accessible learning environment. The idea of relocating our 7th and 8th grade students brings to light numerous concerns shared by many in the community, including parents, students, and school staff.
Removing these grades from Seadrift would mean increased travel time for our children, diminished opportunities for them to engage in after-school activities, and the loss of the invaluable, established connections they've made with their teachers and classmates. These are not mere inconveniences; they are disruptions that threaten the stability and quality of education for our children.
The decision to transfer our students elsewhere should not be taken lightly as it overlooks the impact on their daily routines and their academic success. Seadrift School has long nurtured a sense of belonging and community spirit. Maintaining the 7th and 8th grades is crucial for our children's educational and emotional well-being.
Studies have shown that students perform better and feel more secure in familiar environments. Moreover, transporting students to another campus would place a financial strain on families and potentially expose students to longer and more stressful school days.
We urge the School Board, District Administration, and Community Leaders to consider the long-term benefits of retaining these grades at Seadrift School.
By maintaining these grades, we are preserving the tradition of excellence and community that Seadrift represents. Please join us in safeguarding our children's education and future. Sign this petition to keep our 7th and 8th grade students at Seadrift School.
