The Issue

On February 21, 2026, my brother, Santino Israel Gonzalez, who was only 17 years old, was killed in a mass shooting at a party held in a temporary rental in Kansas City, MO. Six others were injured, some minors, but Santino was the only life taken.

In a single moment, our family’s life was changed forever.

Santino was more than just a victim. He was a hard working employee of EJ & Sons, a loving son, a brother, an uncle, and a deeply loved person whose life had meaning, purpose, and a future ahead of him. His life mattered, and his death was ruled a HOMICIDE—it was the result of a violent act that deserves accountability.

Yet to this day, the person responsible for taking my brother’s life remains FREE.

What is the MOST devastating is the failure of the justice system to act. Despite the severity of this crime—a fatal shooting involving multiple victims—the KANSAS CITY, MO, JACKSON COUNTY JUVENILE COURT. Has shown reluctance to pursue this case to its full extent. The detective is still working on pursuing the case but we need your help. Please SPEAK UP!! SIMPLY OVERLOOKING HIS CASE TO NOT “deal with it” gives the wrong impression, the lack of action sends a dangerous message: that a life can be taken without consequence.

We refuse to accept that.

This petition is not just about awareness—it is a direct call for action. We are demanding that the appropriate authorities take immediate and meaningful steps to ensure that Santino’s case is fully addressed within the justice system.

We are petitioning for:

- A full, thorough, and transparent investigation into the events of February 21, 2026

- The proper filing and pursuit of charges against the individual responsible, regardless of age

- A review of the juvenile court’s decision-making in this case and accountability for any failure to act

- Equal and fair application of justice, ensuring that serious violent crimes are not minimized or dismissed

Justice should not be limited by age when a life has been taken. When someone is killed, there must be accountability—period.

No family should have to fight this hard just to have their loved one’s case taken seriously. No family should be left without answers while the person responsible walks free. And no system should allow a case like this to go unpursued.

We will not stay silent. We will continue to speak, organize, and demand action until my brother receives the justice he deserves.

Santino’s life mattered. His story matters. And his case deserves to be heard.

We are asking our community and the public to stand with us—sign this petition, share it, and help us demand that the justice system do its job.

Justice for Santino Israel Gonzalez is not optional—it is necessary.
