Stop Bullying in Schools for good!

Stop Bullying in Schools for good!
The Issue
Problem
School systems are not taking anti-bullying laws seriously, overlooking or dismissing bullying in schools as children just acting out. It is causing children to fear school, sending them into a deep depression that could result in loss of life (suicide) if not acts of violence (retaliation). This issue affects every child in the system, due to the fact that every child is vulnerable to being verbally or physically abused.
Solution
We need to rewrite the Zero Tolerance stance against bullying. It does not enforce anti-bullying laws enough to make a difference. We do believe that anyone who is seen bullying another student should be formally disciplined under a Class III Major Offence due to the very serious effects it makes on students mentally and physically. Bullying should be considered a form of Verbal and/or Physical Assault as for the student in question intentionally is verbally and/or physically abusing another student bringing them immediate harm. The Zero Tolerance law should also cover disiplinary actions for any adult, teachers and/or parents alike whom witnessed and/or was alerted to a bullying situation and did not act accordingly to ensure both the students saftey and the students well being. Such punishments should include immediate disciplinary actions including but not limited to Verbal Warnings, Unpaid Temporary Suspention, and for more extreme cases, Termination of Employment.
Personal story
I am a victim of extreme bullying. When I was in school I was physically and verbally harassed to the point that I did not wish to attend school any longer. I was forced into a wall in a science class and choked until my face turned red in front of the entire class including the teacher. The teacher did not report this action to any of the higher authorities within the school nor did she act to stop this student choking me. I had to go to the principal myself which resulted in a intermediate punishment. I had feared to step back into school ever since and resulted in my grades dropping to an alltime low and my attendance record being very poor. I do not feel any child should ever have to go through what I went through. I do believe that every child should have the opportunity to get the education they deserve without the fear of other students harassing them or assaulting them. This is why I wish to make a stand. This is why I want to make a change.
