The Issue

The strike at Ontario public colleges has entered week 4 and it is time to end it.  We are calling on the Ontario government and premier Kathleen Wynne to intervene with back-to-work legislation.  If the students lose their term as a result of this continuing strike, we call for Kathleen Wynne to also lose hers; a term for a term.

’I don’t want to see any students in this province lose their term,’ says Kathleen Wynne in a recent interview.  We call on Kathleen Wynne to take action to prevent this before it is too late.

The strike began on Oct 15, 2017 and no talks occurred between the College Employer Council and OPSEU until November 2, 2017.  It was irresponsible of government to allow 3 weeks to pass without any bargaining between the 2 sides affecting 500,000 students and their futures. As of November 6, 2017 talks between the 2 sides have ended and no agreement was reached.

We, the students, are not bargaining chips but we are voters.  We call for an immediate return to work with back-to-work legislation to end to this lengthy strike.  If we lose our term, Kathleen Wynne should lose hers as well.  We the undersigned pledge that if  this strike continues and students lose their term as a result, we will vote against Kathleen Wynne in the June 2018 election. #term4term
