Dismiss Sale of Flavored Electronic Cigarettes and Flavored Cigarette Liquids Prohibition Act
Dismiss Sale of Flavored Electronic Cigarettes and Flavored Cigarette Liquids Prohibition Act
The Issue
As a former smoker, user of electronic cigarettes, friend or family member of someone who has taken advantage of electronic cigarettes to finally break the habit of smoking I ask that the "Sale of Flavored Electronic Cigarettes and Flavored Cigarette Liquids Prohibition Act" be dismissed. The wide variety of flavor choices available that are so far removed from the taste of smoking a traditional cigarette are one of the main deterrents for keeping people away from smoking. It is also an industry that has created countless jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs all across the country and has managed to do so during one of the worst recessions in American history. To remove peoples right to buy, sell, and possess flavored liquids is to condemn many back to a habit that they have gladly left in the past or worse create a criminal that otherwise wouldn't have existed. If there is a place for flavored tobacco and alcohol products on the shelves in stores then surely there is a place for flavored liquid for electronic cigarettes in stores dedicated solely to the liquids and devices.
Many peoples lives have been enriched by switching from traditional cigarettes to electronic cigarettes and I am one of many who stands in strong opposition to the "Sale of Flavored Electronic Cigarettes and Flavored Cigarette Liquids Prohibition Act".
Prohibition is a word synonymous with failure in America and an attack on the rights of Americans to choose what they wish to do within the guidelines that it is not harming anyone else. A word often associated with a very dark time in American history when an almost instantaneous 50% rise in crime came about as new avenues for the criminal underworld opened. We all know how the story ended for the prohibition of alcohol. The "Sale of Flavored Electronic Cigarettes and Flavored Cigarette Liquids Prohibition Act" is an all too disturbing example of the phrase "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
