Clemency Harsh Sentence Mary Crabtree

The Issue

Mary has been sentenced under measure 57. Besides the daily gamble of her life due to covid-19. Mary has been in custody since April of 2017. If this state can offer rehabilitation to repeat drug offenders, sex offenders, and those of minority Groups. It need to offer rehabilitation for all who are not a threat to society. Mary has served her time and so have her two daughters. That have not been able to visit in over a year due to covid19. Her youngest will be 21 when Mary is released at her earliest release date November 2024. She is a model inmate. She accepted accountability for her bad choices. During a mental health crisis 2016 when she lost her Mom/Grandmother to cancer. Mary is a survivor of PTSD , Ovarian Cancer, Domestic Violence, and Addiction. Just to name a few of the battles she has over come or will battle for the rest of her life. Mary has lived and learned first hand a life many only see on tv. Nothing they can wrap their mind around as a reality. Being locked up is not justice for anyone except those who benefit job security from her incarceration. Mary is a high school drop out graduate, certified nurse and certified flagger. Mary also has many hours of social service schooling and hands on volunteer. Mother of two daughters who need her to be with them and guide them. So they don't find the path she had. Her release in to society as a mentor and active advocate for reentry programs. For women and children who suffer from Harsh sentences wrong and unusual punishment.
