Barbers and Hairstylist Are Essential

Barbers and Hairstylist Are Essential
The Issue
Barbers and Hairstylist should be allowed to operate as Essential Business. Our services go beyond a haircut. It’s also for many a boost to their mental health:“I felt depressed until I got my haircut”,“You have boosted my confidence” “I feel so much better”,etc... these statements are often said to me. Then we have our outstanding Military clients, for them, it’s part of their discipline as a soldier, it’s how our U.S. Military has trained them. We have Medical Personal needing to be properly groomed. We also have clients that get weekly haircuts as part of their culture and/or lifestyle Right now we are denying those clients the right that they should have to continue having this Essential service continue. How is it that a liquor store is essential but not Barbers and Hairstylist? Liquor mask mental health issues, haircuts help! Of course we would not proceed as usual. We would maintain the 10 max person (including the staff); we will separate chairs every 6 feet; we will only allow those getting haircuts in the Shop; we will check their temperature at the door before entering; we would ask if they’ve experienced any symptoms or have been close to someone that has or has had Covid-19; we will require every client to wear a mask; all staff will wear mask, face shields, disposable gloves and we will stop after every haircut to throughly clean each chair; station; equipment; and area. We will refrain from doing beards and mustache (for the time being) to avoid close face contact with the client, we will also take more precautions and abide by higher standards than grocery stores are around our City our currently not doing. We are Essential! We are Professionals! We are an important service to our Community, Military and so many others. Let us service, let us be able to continue to provide for our families and those we help take care of, as we are currently left without income and are not eligible for any Government Funds available to many because of how our Business is categorized. Let us lift the spirits in our communities and provide for our families. Help by signing and sharing this petition. Thank you!
