Two new bills have been filed in the House of Representatives on National Integrated Cancer Control Act! Congressman Karlo Nograles (1st District, Davao City) and Congressman Jericho Nograles, (PBA Party list) filed last August 16, 2017 HB 6210 - while Cong. Bernadette Herrrera-Dy (Party List, Bagong Henerasyon) filed another version, HB 6299 last August 30, 2017. The version of Cong. Karlo Nograles and Cong. Jericho Nograles identified new approaches in securing funds for the proposed Cancer Assistance Fund. HB 6210 is also pushing for "reforms supporting early access to essential medicines, innovative medicines and health technologies, to ensure highest possible chance of survival among people with cancer". Cong. Herrera-Dy echoed the Coalitions position to establish an integrated, robust, well connected, accredited network of cancer care centers in strategic areas of the country. We welcome these new bills, as we believe, with every new version, a new dimension is added allowing Congress to craft a government policy that will truly address the growing incidence of cancer in the country. The Coalition is very hopeful that at the end of the day, a truly national, truly integrated cancer control act for Filipinos with cancer, across all ages, all stages, and all genders will be passed.
