It is appalling to think we live in a nation that used to pride ourselves on being glorious and free. Oh Canada, freedom, equal benefits for all without discrimination; where are you? As Canadians, we have the right to be secure and protected against unreasonable search, we have the right to expect privacy. As Canadians, we have the right to enter, remain in and leave our country, whether for work or pleasure. Every single Canadian has the right to life, liberty and security of our person and to rightly expect not to be deprived of these. As Canadians, we expect not to be carelessly apprehended or subjected to any unusual treatment. Canadians have the right to equal protection and benefit under the law, without discrimination.
The basis of requiring vaccine passports, lockdown after lockdown, continual mask wearing, quarantine and hotel stopover after travel, the stop to family gatherings, church, and then offering benefits for only certain citizens within this free and democratic society, is in violation of our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in its entirety. The numbers of infected people from Covid does not match the severity of the rules being put in place. Justifying these rules to protect a part of society at the expense of our Canadian freedoms and the right to equality without discrimination is an abomination of one of our country’s greatest accomplishments. Why are we, the people, called to obey these unjust RULES, when the government is not willing to uphold the LAWS set forth and written? Government is called, by duty not to dictate our rights and freedoms but to uphold them. Oh Canada, freedom, equal benefits for all without discrimination; where are you? Where is the foundation we were built upon in this True North strong and free? God help us.
