Encourage the Canadian government to support the TRC in their endeavors

More than two decades after the final residential school was closed down, the reparations of the inter-generational damage brought upon Indigenous families do not equate to what they suffered. 6000 children were killed in this silent genocide, and the effects are still clearly evident today; there being alarmingly high drug abuse, unemployment and death rates in Indigenous communities.

By signing this petition, you will be supporting a movement that is long overdue. The Canadian government has followed up on a mere 10 of the 94 calls to action proposed in 2014 by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. As stated at the beginning of the document, "These calls to action were in order to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission makes the following calls to action." We are looking for the Canadian government to continue working on completing more of these calls to action, and for more money and resources to be allocated from the Canadian budget in order to restore the damage done Indigenous communities.
