On June 28, 2026, in Jieyang, Guangdong, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded as a gentle stray mother dog known as Wang Wang and her innocent 14-day-old puppies were cruelly attacked and killed by four boys. Adding to the horror of this cruel act, the boys filmed the entire incident, showcasing a complete lack of empathy or understanding of the pain and suffering inflicted. Heartbreakingly, Wang Wang died next to her puppies.
Despite the egregious nature of this act, all four individuals involved were under the age of 14 and therefore below the age of criminal responsibility in China. This means they will face no criminal charges for their actions. However, this incident highlights a much deeper and systemic problem: the absence of any national law in China that specifically prohibits cruelty to companion animals or strays.
