💬 WHAT TO SAY (Choose a Few – Speak from the Heart)
Not sure where to start? Pick any of these points. One is enough.

🔹 “Stop Dishonoring Treʻ”
Treʻ gave everything for this County. Extending this lawsuit dishonors his service and memory.
🔹 “Treʻ’s Family Is NOT Being Taken Care Of”
The County said Treʻ’s family is “being taken care of.”
The truth is, they received nothing—no compensation, no acknowledgment, no real care.
They’ve been dismissed and disrespected.
🔹 “The County Has a Moral Responsibility”
HIOSH found that County failures led to Treʻ’s death.
Just because they can’t be sued doesn’t mean they aren’t responsible.
Continuing this lawsuit sends a message that firefighter lives are disposable.
🔹 “The Family Offered a Fair Solution”
Their proposed settlement would’ve:

Freed Captain Martin of personal liability
Funded Live Like Treʻ Foundation to help current and retired firefighters, including those who lost homes in Lahaina
Created independent safety audits
The County rejected it—and now wants even more money for attorneys.
🔹 “Use Maui’s Money for Maui’s People”
The County has already sent $50,000 to an Oʻahu law firm, and now wants $150,000 more.
That money should stay in Maui—supporting local solutions like Live Like Treʻ Foundation.
Firefighters deserve protection, not politics.
🔹 “We Deserve Better Leadership”
The community has spoken through the petition. Almost 900 people shared that they do NOT support this.
County leaders should be taking responsibility, not hiding behind legal strategy.
This is your moment to do the right thing.

❤️ From the Heart:
If you’re nervous, it’s okay. Just speak honestly:

Why Treʻ’s story matters to you
Why our firefighters deserve better
Why Maui deserves real accountability

Forward it to anyone who wants to do something but doesn’t know how.

Together, let’s remind the County:
Treʻ mattered. Our firefighters matter. Maui is paying attention.
