🔴 Title: Demand Justice for the Stolen PesaLink Innovation –Kenya Bankers Association & Central Bank of Kenya Compensate the Original Innovator Now

📌 Petition Text:

My name is Steve Muikia.

I am the original innovator behind the banking solution now known as PesaLink — a real-time interbank money transfer system.

In 2015 I created ALLinOne interbank Money transfer innovation and shared this innovation with Kenyan banking officials including the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and Kenya Bankers Association (KBA)

In 2017 the very same innovation was implemented under the name PESALINK— without my consent, without credit, and without compensation.

They even unashamedly stole the logo I had registered at KIPI- Kenya Industrial Property Institute

In 2019 after vigorously looking for a lawyer, I took the matter to the High court, supported by copyright certificates, proof of concept, email and letter trails from Central Bank of Kenya and Kenya Bankers Association etc.

The case dragged for 7 years, and on 21st July 2023, the judge dismissed the case based on flawed reasons:

Examples of flawed reasons she quoted as Grounds for dismissal

🔹 That I had referred to it as “just an idea” — despite having fully copyrighted and registered it as a written down expression and a Prototype and Copyright ALL IN ONE BANKING INNOVATION & AIR MONEY VIRTUAL BANK TRANSFER Certificates adduced as evidence in my Bundle

🔹 That I was allegedly a “staff” of the Cooperative bank when I created PESALINK — which is completely false and unsupported by any employment records. My last day of service was 8th January 2015 according to Certificate of Service from Co-operative Bank of Kenya. All the documents about this case are dated after 8th January 2015

Even worse, since that dismissal:

Since 21st July 2023 i have never been given the official written judgment needed to file an appeal.

Even more suspicious is that the judge awarded costs to the " winning" Defendants (KBA, IPSL & CBK) but oddily no defendant has ever asked for payment of these costs or made demands

I have literally begged the Judiciary from 21st July 2023) for access to the written ruling.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) only responded on 5th March 2025, saying they were “seized of the matter.”

It is now nearly five months after they responded via a letter and I still have No written judgment, No Appeal, No Justice Nothing.

Meanwhile, Kenyan banks continue to profit massively from PesaLink — while I survive by hawking tissues on the streets of Nairobi.

We, the undersigned citizens and supporters, demand:

1. That CBK, KBA, and IPSL acknowledge the origin of the PesaLink innovation.

2. That the original innovator, Steve Muikia, be fully compensated and publicly credited.

3. That the Judiciary urgently releases the written judgment and explains the inexcusable delay.

4. That the JSC opens an independent investigation into the handling of this case.

5. That Kenya develops stronger protections for innovators whose work is vulnerable to corporate exploitation and judicial failure.

This is no longer about one man.

This is about every Kenyan innovator who creates something meaningful, only to be robbed by the very institutions meant to support and protect them.
