Justice for the Narrandera Lizards – Let Them Play!

Justice for the Narrandera Lizards – Let Them Play!
The issue
We are calling on the Pro Ten Community Cup and NSW Rugby League to urgently reverse the unfair disqualification of the Narrandera Lizards RLFC from this year’s finals series.
The Narrandera Lizards is a proud local football club made up mostly of Indigenous men from the Narrandera community. This year’s season meant more than just football — it was played in honour of a beloved community member, the mother of three players, who tragically passed away in a car accident earlier this year. Every training session, every game, every win was for her.
After a tough start to the season, the Lizards pushed hard, regrouped, and earned their spot in the semi-final. They followed all protocols and selected their team based on an official eligibility list issued by NSW Rugby League — a list that marked the player in question as eligible. The team won fair and square.
Now, due to an administrative error by NSW Rugby League, the Lizards have been disqualified from the competition. A mistake that was not theirs has robbed them of a grand final opportunity — and devastated an entire community in the process.
This is more than just a paperwork issue. This is a failure of duty and a lack of accountability.
We are demanding:
- The reinstatement of the Narrandera Lizards’ place in the finals;
- A formal apology from NSW Rugby League and Pro Ten;
- And a commitment to review procedures to ensure this never happens again.
Let them play. Let them honour their loved one. Let justice be served.

Their fight is our fight.
