The Issue

In March, 98 animals were found suffering in horrific conditions in an Oconee County, South Carolina, home. Authorities discovered these innocent creatures deprived of food and water, living in squalor, and subjected to extreme neglect.

According to a news report, officials found 13 sheep, 27 rabbits, one cat, one sugar glider, three chinchillas, six pigs, three geese, one black dog, two white dogs, one blue Doberman, four goats, and 36 chickens at the home. There was also a dead sheep on the property.

Animal cruelty is a serious crime, and those who engage in such inhumane acts must face the full consequences of the law. The individual responsible for this extreme case of neglect must be held fully accountable to ensure that justice is served and to deter future acts of animal abuse.

We call on South Carolina officials to impose the maximum legal penalties, including substantial fines, the longest possible prison sentence, and a lifetime ban on animal ownership. This level of cruelty cannot go unanswered, and leniency would only endanger more animals in the future.

By signing this petition, we stand as a voice for the voiceless and affirm our commitment to ending animal cruelty. Justice for these 98 innocent victims is not just necessary—it is our moral obligation.

Hold animal abusers accountable! Demand the maximum penalty now!
