The Issue

🚨🐾 191 DOGS DESERVED BETTER 🐾🚨 191 dogs were pulled from horrific conditions in Lauderdale County. And after everything these animals endured… after everything this community sacrificed… ONLY FOUR MISDEMEANOR CHARGES were filed. FOUR. Let that sink in. John David Richardson, Karolyn Richardson, and Hunter Hancock are each charged with FOUR counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals despite nearly 200 dogs being removed from unimaginable living conditions. For YEARS, many people in this community watched this situation unfold while innocent animals suffered in silence. And while we are incredibly thankful these dogs are finally safe and receiving care, the emotional, physical, and financial toll placed on this community has been devastating.  💔 Shelter staff worked unimaginable hours removing dogs from deplorable conditions and caring for them day and night — showing many of them love for the very first time. 💔 Veterinarians donated their time, medical care, supplies, and expertise to help save these dogs. 💔 Volunteers spent countless hours grooming severely matted dogs, cleaning filth, transporting animals, and comforting terrified souls who had never known kindness. 💔 Rescues, fosters, and community members worked tirelessly WITHOUT PAY to help these dogs survive and begin healing.  And now the people responsible may face only misdemeanor charges?   THAT. IS. UNACCEPTABLE. Lauderdale County MUST send a message that animal cruelty will NOT be tolerated.   We are calling on District Attorney Angie Hamilton to aggressively prosecute animal abuse cases and pursue the strongest charges possible when nearly 200 animals are found suffering in horrific conditions.   And the community is also demanding FULL RESTITUTION for the THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS spent by Lauderdale County, local shelters, rescues, and taxpayers as a direct result of the accused individuals’ actions. The people of this community should not be forced to carry the financial burden of this cruelty.   🐾 We are demanding accountability. 🐾 We are demanding stronger action. 🐾 We are demanding justice for these dogs.   📢 PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND SHARE THIS POST EVERYWHERE. Flood social media. Tag officials. Speak up for the animals who could not speak for themselves. Because if we stay silent now… what message does that send for the NEXT 191 dogs?
