Dear Madam/Sir,

We are writing this letter to complain about and bring to everyone's notice, the negligence that has occurred leading to the death of our dearest Suhani Chopra (31), who at the time was 9 months pregnant.

Suhani was neglected by Dr. Mili Inania (Gynecologist) w/o Dr. Ravi Inania, The Balaji Hospital (100, Near Ashok Udhyan, Megh Nagar, Pal Road, Chopasni Housing Board, Shankar Nagar, Sector23, Bhadu Market, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342008) and the Nursing Staff at Balaji Hospital, while she was in their care, leading to her untimely death, and leaving behind a newborn baby girl.

Suhani, in the afternoon of the 18th of January 2022, which was also her EDD (estimated due date), began complaining about vaginal bleeding. Dr. Mili Inania assured her that this was normal and that there was no reason for worry. This continued for several hours, and the bleeding got progressively worse. In spite of multiple calls/ messages/ photos that were sent to Dr. Mili Inania, she maintained that this was normal.

After a few hours passed, the patient and her husband went to the hospital and insisted on seeing a doctor. When Dr. Inania reached the hospital, she again simply asked Mrs. Suhani to go back home without physically examining her. Sir, even a medical student/intern could tell you a physical examination is the first step of management for a full term asking for a consultation! Later realizing that Mrs. Suhani’s water had burst, Dr. Mili Inania and the staff admitted her but still acted carelessly and as Mrs. Suhani’s condition started deteriorating, their lax management skills and reckless behavior ended up costing us an irreplaceable loss. At just 31 years old, Suhani Chopra soon passed away during childbirth leaving behind a newborn baby girl and her devastated husband who had witnessed the whole debacle firsthand. This, unfortunately, was only one of many errors that happened that night and throughout Suhani's pregnancy.

Sir, we have many reasons and pieces of evidence and witnesses that will prove that Mrs. Jain's Doctor - Dr. Mili Inania, the nursing staff, and Balaji Hospital were ill-equipped and failed to provide the appropriate standard of care under the treatment circumstances throughout the nine months that Suhani was Dr. Mili's patient. and in fact, acted so recklessly that it led to a mistake so huge that has left our baby girl motherless.

While we understand that nothing can bring back our dearest daughter,  we come to you with only one wish- "The sheer medical negligence and malpractice shown in Suhani's case should never ever be allowed to happen again. Medical providers and institutes should not and cannot take their duties so carelessly when dealing with the most precious thing on this planet - the Human life". We believe what transpired in Bajali Hospital on January 18th with Suhani was no less than murder. The delay in diagnosis and the inadequacy of the resuscitative measures lead to her death, something which is unacceptable in this day and age.

In our efforts to seek justice we have lodged an FIR #0051 with the Jodhpur police. The FIR that was submitted and accepted listed all three aforementioned parties but the FIR registered in the system lists only the Doctor as accused. Similarly, the IPC sections requested also have discrepancies between the two versions. We understand we have taken up a cause against some very influential parties. It's just that we are driven by our sense of duty to finally do something that can bring a change for the better in our community, city, country and hence we are writing to you with immense hope in our hearts. This is also on behalf of all those families who suffered similar losses but did not have the resources, strength, or courage to do anything about it and had no choice but to simply move on.

We come to you with folded hands to request you to ensure that justice is served and help and guide us in our efforts to ensure such a mishap never happens again. No child should ever have to be separated from its mother because of the reckless behavior of a doctor and medical providers. We request you to assign a medical board for a thorough and impartial investigation of the matter and allow Mr. Vishrut Jain and Mr. Harshit Chopra who were prime witnesses to the entire episode be allowed to be heard in front of the board.

Sincerely,

On behalf of Citizens of Jodhpur who are looking up to you for change.
